LATEST JOBS /RECENT JOBS IN KENYA
This is the most searched subject by the largest population of job seekers, graduates and or amongst the youths.
When you come across most recruitment sites, you will find that jobs are nowadays paid handsomely. BUT, we send our CVs but do not get any response back. Here are a few things that you could be missing:-
- Qualifications Listed/Outlined– If you do not meet at least 80% of qualifications needed, do not bother sending your credentials, this is usually one among the many factors of getting few applications BUT the best for the position being advertised. Age too could be a factor listed on the advert. To avoid being disappointed in yourself, put this too into consideration.
- Experience- Do not send that application if you do not meet the minimum years of experience quoted. Most employers are giving terms when it comes to this, the reason they are paying good money is to avoid on-the-job training; therefore, you will be doing yourself no justice by sending your application package.
- Hands on experience– It is very humiliating being called for an interview but you cannot answer with confidence questions on your field of expertise. It rather shows that you do not have what it takes for that position.
- Courtesy and etiquette– You should know that panellists are the people who get the first impression of you before you meet the Management of any company. How you address them and how you conduct yourself gives you a + or a – before you are rated on your presentation on your email or as you drop your application package. Write something on the email body, it shows you are not lazy. Avoid forwarding previously applied for position’s mails. Stop pasting your CV on the mail body when asked for an attachment. It is also important to fill the ‘subject’ head on the email as requested as this helps in listing. Such a minor mistake could lead you to being left out yet you have the skills.
- Relevance– As a candidate, seek to remain relevant! If a potential employer is looking for an accountant or for a marketer, don’t just think that you can handle that especially when your papers indicate that you have not handled that field before. No position is looking for somebody to JUST fill it. Employers are looking for the value attached to the money they are paying and the input required. Be sure to check on the details and the requirements quoted. You will find most applicants do not have the relevant experience that is required and more to that, they do not meet the minimum education requirements that have been set out. More to this, it is always good to have experience in your line of profession, hopping from one job to another in different industries could be a factor of disqualification.
- Your CV vs Your Experience– When applying for any job, it is important to make sure that you understand what is written on your CV, the language used and the experience lined out, is exactly what you have. Make sure what is presented is what you can well translate on paper and on the job
