SALARY SCALE FOR EMPLOYEES
SHOULD EMPLOYERS REVIEW THEIR SALARY TERMS?
In our journey to helping employers get the best skills and talents for their firms, we also realized the need and the urge to raise a concern on remuneration terms.
Well, this is a very sensitive topic that we have embarked to tackle but we hope that it shall raise the awareness that we need addressed.
Recruiters, give their best and ensure that they help employers hire the best brains and skills. Basically, they are a bridge that tightens the gap between employers and employees.
It is high time that recruitment firms realized that we need to encourage both parties in fairness. During the recruitment process there is a ceiling price indicated for all positions advertised. But, we have a probation period within which employers test the skills and capabilities of candidates. True to their words, recruiters get candidates who selflessly give their best but after the probation period, that is where problems start.
Note: This does not necessarily happen to our clients but many job-seekers have raised that as an issue in their journey to professionalism.
Havengold Consultants has come across instances where candidates are promised a salary review but with time, they end up being dodged to the right, to the left and finally, they are dismissed on ridiculous grounds. Sad, isn’t it?
It has been a sad experience where employees are skilled but you finding employers on the other extreme end; for instance, we recently came across an advert where a company was looking to hire interns for the position of an accountant and they had specified that they must have an experience of more than 1 year.
For God’s sake , that is an entry level position. We therefore rise against this form of injustice and encourage employers to positively remunerate employees for the value they are adding to their firms.
What similar situations have led us to this campaign?
Consequently, we recently came across a lady who told our recruitment desk that she has worked in a firm for three solid years but they have retained her in the position of an attachee’. It hurts, doesn’t it?
Our parting shot
It is high time employers appreciated the effort and the value that employees add to their company. Ask yourself, if we all acted as “ears”, what could we use to see.
If we were all a “mouth” what then could we use for locomotion, say walking/movement?
We therefore need to appreciate one another with a spirit of unity and togetherness and appreciate each and everyone in the spirit of team building.
